COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) -

A Holmes High School student has been arrested for bringing a weapon to school.

Police say 18-year-old Cameron Kelley brought a gun to school with the intention of selling it.

Sheriffs say that Kelley left school at some point during the day and returned with the firearm. Officers say they do not believe the teen made any threats.

Administrators from the school say they acted on a tip that they received and pulled the student out of class. Kelley admitted to school officials that he did have a weapon. Authorities say that a handgun and several rounds were found.

The school sent a letter home to parents.

Kelley has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school property and carrying a concealed weapon.

Kelley will be arraigned on Wednesday morning.
