Nearly 3-dozen Cleveland firefighters lack training

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The city of Cleveland has about 35 firefighters not meeting state requirements for refresher training.

The city did an audit of the entire department after finding former Chief Darryl McGinnis was not up to date on his required training hours. Mcginnis then resigned.

The city has now referred its reviews on the nearly 35 current firefighters to the state. The state oversees training requirements, and the department of public safety could take a wide range of actions depending on how far behind each firefighter might be.

Firefighters must keep up with standards for emergency medical treatment and fighting fires.
