Gorgeous by day, rainy by night

Posted: Updated:

What a gorgeous day we have in store!  Sunny skies, highs in the low to mid-60s, and wind only around 5-10mph.  Around the dinner hour we'll start to see a few more clouds, with rain pushing back in overnight.  Upstate looks to see a quick round of light showers, while our mountain towns could hang on to some moderate to heavier rainfall linger into the morning commute.

The rest of Wednesday looks to show partly cloudy skies with an isolated afternoon shower, and highs reaching the low 60s in Western NC and near 70 Upstate.  A few towns can't be ruled out to see highs reach into the low 70s.

Our next big chance to see heavier rain and thunderstorms arrives on Friday.  At this point, we expect rain on & off through the morning, with a cold front and storms pushing in late morning into early afternoon.  Some of the storms could be on the strong side, with a severe threat mainly showing the potential for damaging winds.  Tornado threat looks low at this time, but can't be ruled out.  The storminess moves east of our area through the remainder of the day Friday and we should clear out to partly cloudy skies for the weekend.

Stay tuned for the latest on this potentially stormy forecast for Friday.
