ROCKY RIVER, OH (WOIO) -

The rain is already impacting home evacuations in some Northeast Ohio communities.

Some people living along the Rocky River have headed to higher ground just to be safe.

For local businessman Bill Cochrane, who owns Nalu Stand-Up Paddle and Surf Shop located right on the banks of the Rocky River, the increase in water levels could translate into an increase in business this Spring.

"When we've had a winter like we've had any glimpse of spring is welcome," Cochrane anticipates.

Once the ice and snow melt, by the amount of phone calls he says he's been fielding, he forecasts another surge, this time in customers looking to cruise the scenic river.

Paddle-boarding is one of the fastest growing sports across the globe and enthusiasts are anywhere where there's water.

Due to its low impact fitness benefits, paddle-boarding is a sport for everyone.

"We've had people from 86 to five do it; and you know, they all come back with a smile on their face," Cochrane raves.

So, while an increase in the H20 could have some saying, "Oh no," this big thaw could mean a boost in business for Nalu Stand-up Paddle and Surf Shop.
