ROCKY RIVER, OH (WOIO) -

Rocky River Police report that I-90 is open after ODOT and the water department worked to make repairs after a pipe burst earlier in the afternoon.

Westlake Police say the city's on-ramps are now open after being closed for hours and causing major traffic delays.

The water pipe ruptured underneath the Valley View Drive overpass, flooding I-90 below at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22.

One motorist shared video with 19 Action News of the heavy downpour of gushing water that luckily didn't cause any accidents.

The driver says it looked like he had to drive through car wash on the interstate and others said the experience was like driving under a waterfall.

Utility repair crews will be working until further notice to remove the pipe so broken sections don't fall down into the highway.

All this, making it a busy weekend for Rocky River Police.

Once one problem is solved another presents itself.

"We like it calm and it has not been like that for a couple of days," reported Sergeant George Lichman.

Before the water main problems, Rocky River police were dealing with flooding concerning the river.

Earlier this week officers went door to door advising residents they should consider leaving their homes if the river continued to rise.

But the flood threat was lifted Friday, Feb. 21 when ice jams on the river broke free and the water started moving again.
