Kent State's Archer turns in impressive time

Posted: Updated:

Kent State's Dri Archer came within two hundredths of a second from making history at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis today.  The explosive running back was hoping to break Chris Johnson's record in the 40-yard dash, but had to settle for clocking the fastest time of the day.

Archer, who was one of the best sprinters in the state of Florida in high school, had predicted he would break Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson's combine record of 4.24, saying his personal best was a 4.21.

He came so close, that Johnson even tweeted, "Can't lie Archer had the boi (sic) nervous."

Archer is hoping to break into the NFL wherever teams think he fits best, telling Fox Sports last week that he would tell teams that he's an "offensive weapon"

Archer said when he meets with coaches and scouts in Indianapolis and is asked what position he feels is his best, he'll tell them "offensive weapon."
