CHARDON, OH (WOIO) -

Anything to do with the Chardon shooting is still a very sensitive subject in the town.

One Chardon resident in the Walmart parking lot says, "I don't want to talk about it."

Demetrius Hewlin, Russel King Jr., and Danny Parmertor were all shot and killed by fellow student TJ Lane at Chardon High School.

The victims' families, including paralyzed survivor Nick Walczak, filed the lawsuit against the Chardon School District and Lake Academy Alternative School on the two-year anniversary of the fateful day.

One man who lives in Chardon tells 19 Action News, "I feel bad for the family but it shouldn't of been filed."

The lawsuit does praise the numerous teachers who acted in a heroic manner.

The filing also makes claims the district didn't listen to previous complaints about a lack of security.

The lawsuit says school officials where the shooter was enrolled as a student, Lake Academy Alternative School in Willoughby, failed to respond to the risks and dangers presented by TJ Lane.

Many are responding on social media with their thoughts on the lawsuit.

On Twitter @DefensePrep says this lawsuit points out the importance of training teachers, administrators, and staff to recognize signs of emotional distress in others.

On Facebook a man named Joe calls the lawsuit "Ridiculous. How can anyone predict another person's actions and hold someone else responsible."

"It's wrong. The school isn't responsible for a kid who was mentally ill," a woman by the name of Gerri on Facebook stated.

The school district won't comment on the lawsuit and neither will most people in Chardon.
