Police: Two arrested for stealing wiring from UC Healthcare in Florence

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) -

Patrolling officers were in the right place at the right time on Thursday night. Officer say they observed two men exiting a UC Healthcare building in Florence, Ky. that is currently under construction.

Officers say that two men were seen exiting the southwest corner of the building, located at 58 Cavalier Blvd., around 9 p.m. Thursday evening.

As an on-duty officer approached the suspects, one man was immediately taken into custody. Police say the second suspect fled on foot into a wooded area behind the building. Officers say that the fleeing suspect was soon located and taken into custody.

Authorities were able to locate the suspects' vehicle in the parking lot of UC Healthcare with several spools of wiring inside of it. Also located in the parking lot was a large amount of wiring that had been removed from the building. Police say there was over $1,000 worth of wiring recovered. Officers say  damage was done to the building as well.

Louis Schunk, 34, and William Saylor, 34, have been charged with burglary, fleeing and evading police and criminal mischief.

The suspects are being held at the Boone County Detention Center.
