St. Edward boys basketball won their first state championship since 1998 on Saturday in Columbus, defeating Upper Arlington 62-58 in overtime.
Marsalis Hamilton provided the biggest basket of the game when he drilled a three-pointer as time expired in regulation to send the game into overtime.
The Eagles commanded the pace in the extra stanza. They held the ball for over two minutes at the start of the extra period, finally, Malcolm Walters broke the tie with a drive to the basket. The lead was never relinquished and St. Edward went on to win their second state title in basketball.
