MENTOR, OH (WOIO) -

Ten police K9 units from the Mentor Police Department and other local agencies were brought in to Mentor High School on Wednesday to help administrators with a drug sweep of the school.

After a thorough search of the building and parking lot, no drugs were found.

While administrators are pleased with the end result, some concern was raised because the police dogs did indicate a potential presence of drugs in several lockers and cars during the sweep. However, when administrators searched further, they did not find drugs or contraband. Parents and guardians were notified by one of the high school administrators if their child's locker or car was searched.

Staff and students were asked to shelter in place by staying in their classrooms and continuing lessons during the search period. Also, Mentor High School parents and guardians were notified of the search via email.
