Highway troopers make pill bust in Geauga County

GEAUGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

A normal traffic stop turns into a major drug bust for the Ohio Highway Patrol.

On March 24, at 7:49 p.m., a trooper pulled over the driver of a 1997 Ford Thunderbird, with Ohio registration, for a marked lanes violation on Chardon Windsor Road, in Claridon Township in Geauga County.

A Geauga County Sheriff's Office drug-sniffing canine became alerted to the vehicle.

A probable cause search revealed eight Vyvanse pills, eight Hydrocodone pills, 51 Methadone pills, 71 Clonazepam pills and 26 Hydrochloride pills in a pill bottle.

The trooper also found a small amount of marijuana, a glass smoking pipe and $2,310 in cash.

The illegal prescription pills have an estimated street value of nearly $1,000. 

The driver, Andrew Burzanko, 46, of Chardon, Ohio, was charged with possession of a schedule II substance, a third-degree felony and possession a schedule III substance, a fifth-degree felony.
