EUCLID, OH (WOIO) -

A student of Arbor Elementary in the city of Euclid was hit while walking to school.

Euclid Police say that the boy darted across the street, outside the crosswalk when he was run over at East 200th Street and Naumann.

The incident happened at 8 a.m. Friday morning.

The child is a 2nd grader at Arbor Elementary located at 20400 Arbor Avenue.

The child was taken away by ambulance to Rainbow Babies and Children with foot injuries.

The driver of the pick up truck stopped after the child was struck and has been cooperating with police.

A concerned mother tells 19 Action News that she hopes this incident will bring light to the need for more crossing guards in the area for such young walkers.
