NORTH COLLEGE HILL, OH (FOX19) -

Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to an officer-involved shooting in North College Hill.

Undercover officers say they attempted to question three suspects on Oak Knoll Drive, located in North College Hill.  As officials approached the home, one suspect, identified only as a male juvenile, displayed a firearm and threatened an officer.

Investigators say that the male suspect entered the back of the detective's vehicle and pointed a firearm at the investigator's head.

The detective was able to safely escape the vehicle and the suspect fled the scene. At this point, police say the detective called for backup.

Authorities arriving on the scene were able to locate the suspect. Police say that an officer from the Colerain Police Department discharged his weapon, striking the suspect in the hand.

Police say the suspect dropped his weapon and was arrested without further incident. The suspect was transported to UC Medical Center for treatment.

The officer has been put on paid administrative leave for 72 hours as police continue to investigate
