CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Many gambling enthusiasts will be rolling the dice and taking a look at their black jack cards amidst some darkness Saturday, March 29 at Cleveland's Horseshoe Casino and the Thistledown Racino.

Caesars Entertainment and its properties across the U.S. will participate in the World Wildlife Fund's Earth Hour.

"Earth Hour is just one of many ways that we participate in activities that improve the lives of our employees, guests and our community," said Marcus Glover, senior vice president and general manager of Horseshoe Cleveland.

The action is to showcase the company's commitment to operate in an environmentally responsible manner. From 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. the engineering design team (EDT) will shut off non-essential exterior lighting and marquees. Both properties will remain open and all the gaming still going.

"We are also encouraging employees and guests to keep the spirit of Earth Hour alive by making a habit of turning off unnecessary lights and personal electrical equipment at work and at home," added Glover.

Southwest Ohio sister property Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati will also shut off its exterior lighting during the same hour.

Earth Hour has grown to involve hundreds of millions of people across 7,000 cities and 154 countries in a collective statement of concern about climate change. This is the sixth consecutive year Caesars Entertainment has partnered with World Wildlife Fund to raise awareness for this important issue, and the second consecutive year Horseshoe Cleveland has participated.
