BEREA -

A significant part of religious history will be in Berea during this Lenten season. A  traveling icon of the "Black Madonna" will be on display at the Saint Adalbert Parish on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 7 p.m.

The Catholic Community of the Diocese of Cleveland and people of other faiths are invited to visit the church and view the beautiful copy of this icon.

The icon of "Our Lady of Czestochowa" or the "Black Madonna" is reputed to have been written on Mary's table top from her house in Nazareth by Luke the Evangelist. She has been credited with numerous miracles and healings.  The copy has been blessed and consecrated at the monastery of Jasna Gora in Poland, where the original is kept, and entrusted to the defense of life and family as part of a worldwide "From Ocean to Ocean" tour by Human Life International.

Before being in Berea as part of her global pilgrimage, the Black Madonna will travel 40,000 miles from Vladivostok, Russia through 24 countries in Europe.
