WICKLIFFE, OH (WOIO) -

Wickliffe Police are looking for the masked suspect who tried to rob Imperial Wine and Beverage on Euclid Avenue.

It happened just before midnight on Sunday.

The store owner was behind the counter when a man entered wearing a tan coat or sweatshirt with the hood up and a dark colored ski mask. The suspect was armed with a black handled steak knife.

The store owner ran to the back room to get a handgun, and turned to point it at the suspect, who had chased after the owner. A struggle ensued before the suspect finally fled.

The store owner chased him outside and saw him enter the front passenger door of a black or dark blue newer four door car. He obtained a possible partial license plate number of 2191. The victim believes the license plate is an Ohio issued plate, but he lost his glasses in the struggle.

The store owner received minor cuts and abrasions to his hands, but was not seriously injured and no shots were fired during the incident.

Surveillance from a nearby gas station caught the suspect vehicle on Euclid Avenue.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wickliffe Police Department at 440-943-1234.
