LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Many University of Kentucky basketball fans would say the stellar performance of freshman forward Marcus Lee in Sunday's NCAA win over Michigan was music to their ears! That's the case for Nashville singer and Taylorsville, Kentucky native J.D. Shelburne.

Shelburne wrote a song that's all about the Wildcats latest trip to the Final Four.

Shelburne said he was fooling around at first when he sat down and came up with the words Sunday night. He videotaped it, threw it on Facebook and now said he's shocked how many people have viewed it.

In Indianapolis, excited and impressed fans couldn't stop talking about the freshman Cat who stepped in for an injured Willie Cauley-Stein. After the game one fan said, "Marcus Lee played huge, it was a big game for him."

Shelburne, a Nashville country crooner, happens to be a life-long UK fan and was glued to his TV for Sunday's big game. "I was just so excited and I was like, you know what? I was sitting there and I Googled Texas country songs," he remembered.

With the Cats headed to Dallas for the Final Four, Shelburne took Alabama's song "If you're going to play in Texas." The next line? "You have to have a fiddle in the band."

Shelburne's Big Blue version on home video begins, "Props to Marcus Lee, this song's for you." He sings, "If you're going to play in Texas, you have to have Lee in the game."

Fans who follow Shelburne's music certainly know his "Farm Boy" video that hit Country Music Television.

But who needs big time production crews? Shelburne's UK home video got nearly 250,000 views on Facebook in just it's first day. Shelburne said he had no idea the video would take-off like that.

"I had no idea, not at all," he said. "I figured it would get a couple hundred views."

Just like a true blue fan, he's thrilled for the Cats.

"To come from the NIT last year to the Final Four with five starting freshman is nothing but insane," he laughed. "If Calipari was here right now, I would hug him for about 10 minutes, I'm excited!"

Shelburne finishes the song by saying, "Go Cats, can't wait till Saturday, see you in Dallas."

Shelburne has a performance this weekend, but said if he gets tickets to the game, he may be persuaded to find a replacement act.
