CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

There's the phrase shop till you drop, and in order to save the most, there are certain days you should consider buying certain things.

First off, saving on groceries. Experts say hunt for deals on Wednesdays when stores start their weekly discount and coupon programs. Shoppers who hit the market earlier in the day, from 1-4 p.m.,  tend to buy less high calorie foods.

When it comes to fuel the best day tends to vary. According to Gas Buddy, most states have the cheapest gas on the weekend. In fact 65 percent of states had lower prices during the weekend than during the week.

If you're looking for that perfect sweater, there may not be just one day of the week to buy it. Experts say retailers mostly add new sale merchandise on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

When you go to buy airline tickets, the best time to buy them and shop for travel domestically is Tuesday at 3 p.m. EST. The cheapest time to fly is the first flight out in the morning.

For big ticket items like a car, the best time to buy is at the end of the year, quarter or month. Sales people at dealerships typically get bonuses for meeting their quotas during those times, and they may be more willing to negotiate with you.
