Woman robbed in her driveway on Garry Road in Akron

AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

Shortly before 11 a. m. on Thursday, April 3,  a 36-year-old female was robbed of $400 in her driveway in the 600 block of Garry Road in Akron.

The victim reported she had just pulled into her driveway when the suspect approached her from behind the house.  The suspect had his hand in his sleeve, as if he had a gun, and demanded the victim to empty her pockets and take her diamond ring off.  

The victim threw her money and ring on the ground and ran into her house.  The suspect picked up the money and fled.  

Responding officers alerted Barber Community Learning Center, a neighborhood school, of the robbery and that the suspect could possibly be in the area.  

The school administration placed the school on lock down for precautionary and safety reasons. The school was on lock down for about a half hour.  

Officer's were able to recover the victim's ring in the yard.

The suspect was not located.
