CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A 52-year-old man is in custody after a SWAT situation on Cleveland's west side.

It happened in the 2600 block of W. 11th Monday morning around 12:30 a.m.

Witnesses told police that the suspect had been sniffing paint thinner and making threats.

The suspect allegedly threw a knife at the 52-year-old victim before punching the victim's pitbull in the face several times.

The suspect then threatened to shoot and blow up officers while brandishing a large kitchen knife.

SWAT was called, and the suspect was taken into custody a short time later.

While in the back of the police cruiser, the suspect repeatedly tried to kick out the windows of the car.

Charges are pending.
