CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Traffic is being rerouted Tuesday, April 8 at the intersection of West 78th Street and Elton Avenue due to a collapsed main sewer.

Crews from the Division of Water Pollution Control (WPC) are on the scene. They are rerouting the sewage flow to another sewer main. This way the potential backups that could cause flooding are being eliminated.

Repair work will begin April 9, and is expected to take 10 days. The intersection will remain closed for the time it takes to make the repair. The sewer material at this location is made of clay and was built in back 1901.

Any resident experiencing basement flooding is asked to call WPC at 216-664-2513.
