AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

A delivery man was shot in the leg while installing appliances at a home in the 2100 block of 5th Street SW.

It happened around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Akron Police say a  couple was moving into a house on 5th Street SW when the male resident was involved in an argument with another male visitor outside the residence.

The male visitor left and returned several minutes later armed with two handguns.  Three delivery men were at the residence installing appliances when the suspect returned.

The suspect fired several shots at the male resident who was standing in the front yard with one of the appliance men.

The shots missed the two standing in the front yard; however, one bullet traveled through the front door and through a wall and struck the victim, one of the appliance delivery men, in the leg.

The victim, Maurice Bayless, 24, of Saxon Avenue, was transported to Akron City Hospital where his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Detectives are requesting the public's help in locating the suspect, Jonathan Shane Wilt, 20, of 17th Street SW in Akron.

Wilt is wanted for three counts of felonious assault.  Wilt is a white male, 6'0", 220 lbs., with brown, short hair and blue eyes.  He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jonathan Shane Wilt is asked to contact the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at (330) 375-2490; the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-866-4 WANTED; or the Summit County Crimestoppers Inc. at 330-434-COPS.
