CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Indians desperately needed some timely hitting against the Blue Jays, and David Murphy came through with a bases clearing double to left to put the Indians ahead for good with a 6-4 victory over the Blue Jays.

The Tribe came into the game having lost 7 of their last 9, and unable to muster hits with runners in scoring position, batting just .229.  Even worse, the team was 0-14 in the first two losses of the series.

The win did not come without tense moments though, as John Axford worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning getting Edward Encarnacion to ground out right up the middle to a well-positioned Jason Kipnis to end the threat.

Josh Outman (3-0) was credited with the win as he recorded the final out in the sixth innings.  The bullpen came through after Carlos Carrasco failed to make it out of the sixth inning, although he did retire the first nine hitters of the game.  He hasn't won a decision in 16 starts.

The Indians continue their homestand on Monday, April 21 against the Royals.
