"Showtime" Shawn Porter continued his upward climb up the Welterweight contender charts as he destroyed Paulie Malignaggi Saturday, April 19 in Washington DC to retain his IBF world title.
Porter was just too strong from the opening bell, as he was able to open up a cut over Malignaggi's left eye in the opening round.
Then in the second round, he was able to pull of a clean knockdown with a huge right hand that sent his opponent reeling. Porter landed 63 power strikes as opposed to Malignaggi who landed just 21.
The win gave the 26-year-old Porter a record of 24-0-1 and puts the rest of the Welterweights in boxing on notice that "Showtime" has put his stamp on the weightclass.
