BTE, to be held June 17-18 at the Sheraton Hotel in Chicago, is a demo space and conference that brings real-world, cutting-edge technology demonstrations and business insights to communications service provider executives.

"One of the key individuals in the NFV movement, Lopez has been sharing his thoughts and ideas, stimulating discussion, and driving innovation around NFV since the concept was first realized," said Ray LeMaistre, Light Reading's Editor-in-Chief. "He brings a wealth of understanding to this issue to share with our BTE audience."

Lopez joined Telefonica I+D in 2011 as a Senior Technology Expert on network middleware and services. He is currently in charge of the Technology Exploration activities within the GCTO Unit of Telefonica I+D. Before joining Telefonica, Lopez spent some years in the academic sector, dedicated to research on network service abstractions and the development of APIs based on them. He is currently focused on identifying and evaluating new opportunities in technologies applicable to network infrastructures and the coordination of national and international collaboration activities.

BTE combines the educational power of interactive conference sessions devised and hosted by Heavy Reading's experienced industry analysts, with multi-vendor interoperability and proof-of-concept networking and application showcases. BTE is geared toward helping attendees better understand the business rationale for concepts such as SDN, NFV, small-cell architectures, next-generation policy and charging, big-data analytics, and mobile network security.

BTE sponsors include ADVA, Alcatel-Lucent, Champion ONE, Ciena, Cisco, Cyan, Fujitsu, Infinera, MRV, SpiderCloud, Support.com, and Symantec.
