AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

Summit County Sheriff's investigators have identified and arrested the driver of the vehicle that struck two people, including a deputy sheriff in a McDonald's restaurant parking lot last month.

Artemus D. Blanding, 23, of Bedford Heights Ohio has been charged with one count of attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault, and one count of aggravated vehicular assault and booked into the Summit County Jail. His bond has been set at $250,000.

Witnesses have identified Blanding as the operator of the GMC Jimmy that struck a University of Akron student and Summit County Sheriff's Deputy Jonathan Rimedio on April 13, 2014 in the McDonald's restaurant parking lot located at 246 East Exchange Street in Akron.

After striking the men, the vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Both victims were taken to local hospitals, where they were treated for their injuries. Although security video cameras in the area captured various portions of the incident, there was little physical evidence for investigators to build on.

"Their hard work has really paid off, and I'm very proud of how they put this case together," said Sheriff Barry.

This continues to be an ongoing investigation.
