MARION, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Detectives with the McDowell County Sheriff's Office said a Marion man was charged after he unlawfully towed away another man's Porsche and sold it for scrap.

Detectives said Royce Ollis, 40, of Greenlee Road, called a junk yard to have a 1982 Porsche, valued at $2,000, towed from a residence on Old Clear Creek Road in Marion so he could sell the car for scrap metal and parts on March 17.

One of the victim's neighbors saw the car being taken and notified authorities, detectives said.

Detectives said Ollis was charged with felony larceny and felony obtaining property by false pretense.

The Porsche was recovered.
