LELAND, NC (WECT) -

A Brunswick County family needs a place to stay and a firefighter is recovering from injuries after a fire destroyed a home in the Magnolia Greens Community of Leland.

According to Leland Fire Chief John Grimes, the house on Laurel Oak Way caught fire shortly before midnight on Friday.

Neighbors told firefighters they heard several loud pops, then saw the house engulfed in flames.

The family was not home at the time of the fire and no citizens were injured.

However, one firefighter suffered minor injuries but did not need to be transported to the hospital.

Grimes said the house is a total loss and investigators are still looking to determine the cause of the fire.
