(RNN) - In this galaxy, probably not far away from you at all, a Star Wars enthusiast is geeking out, hoping to use the Force to be in the next movie.

J.J. Abrams, the director charged with restoring the franchise, announced a contest Wednesday while on set in Abu Dhabi. Abrams said the initiative would raise money for programs to "find creative solutions to the world's biggest problems."

He doesn't mean rectifying the edit in Episode IV that changed the fact that Han really did shoot first.

Star Wars: Force for Change is raising money for UNICEF's Innovation Labs which benefit children in need. Disney has given $1 million to help launch the effort. Disney owns Lucas Film, which was founded by Star Wars creator George Lucas.

In the video announcement, Abrams stands in front of a set with some folks in the background milling about in costume - when a creature, looking like a Frank Oz creation, interrupts Abrams' announcement.

The winner gets a trip to London and will meet the cast, go behind the scenes - and be in the movie. However, there is a disclaimer that not every scene has a 100 percent chance to make the final cut of the film. Some of the original cast from the first three movies have roles in the upcoming film, such as Carrie Fischer (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo).

Entrants can donate through the fundraising site Omaze at different price levels. A $10 donation is one entry, and the "reward levels" increase in $10 increments. The highest level of donation, the Jedi Grand Master of the Order, offers 5,000 entries and costs $50,000 - of which there were only four purchases left at the time this article was published.

The movie is slated to be released in December 2015.

Good luck, young Jedis, and may the Force be with you.
