Near CATastrophe turns into PAWsome rescue for lucky kitty...

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A near tragic event made a turn for the better at a parking garage in downtown Cleveland.

Friday morning around 9:30 a.m. in the parking garage of Reserve Square, two employees while on their way to work, came across a strange noise. Upon further inspection they identified the noise as a "meowing" coming from under the hood of a parked Nissan Altima.

After many attempts, the concerned citizens were able to find the owner of the vehicle, through license plate identification, allowing the hood to be popped.

The attempts came up empty as the terrified male kitten fled from their reach out of fright. After an hour of unsuccessful rescue, a tow truck passed by the scene and offered their help to lift the vehicle. Out of fear of endangering the feline, the car engine was left off and instead, placed in neutral and pushed out by the citizens.

Once the car was lifted, attempts from the undercarriage of the vehicle as well as from the open hood were made but, the outcome looked dismal. The kitten was finally retrieved from the top of the vehicle near the engine. The kitten was then taken to a nearby Veterinarian Clinic to be checked out.

The lucky feline walked away with only an upper respiratory infection but, was said to be in fine condition. There are currently several people interested in adopting this courageous feline.

The kitten was checked into the vet's under the name "Diesel".
