CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland has placed a bid to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

In February, more than 30 cities were invited by the DNC to place bids.

They include Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, El Paso, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Memphis, Miami, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Nashville-Davidson, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Orlando, New Orleans, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Portland, Sacramento, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis and Tampa.

June 6, 2014 was the deadline.

Cleveland has also bid to host the 2016 Republican National Convention and is among the final four cities. The RNC should make a decision in August.

Cities seriously expressing interest in hosting the 2016 Democratic National Convention include Columbus, Philadelphia and St. Louis.

To date, Austin, Chicago, Kansas City, Portland, St. Louis, and Tampa have stated that they are not planning to bid on the 2016 convention.

The 2012 host city for the Democratic Convention, Charlotte, was chosen in February of 2011.

With that said, Cleveland may have to wait until next year before learning of a decision.
