LAKE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

State prosecutors wrapped up their case on Tuesday against Kevin Knoefel, who is accused of persuading his foster-daughter, Sabrina Zunich, to kill his wife Lisa in November of 2012.

Prosecutors are seeking to prove that Kevin Knoefel was the mastermind behind Lisa's brutal death.

Monday more witnesses were called, including the lead Willoughby Hills detective on the case, crime lab personnel and a forensic scientist.

The lab personnel was called to make sure the lab samples were not compromised and there were no drugs in Zunich's system -- other than the one's she was normally prescribed for her bi-polar disorder.

Prosecutors asked Chris Ann Sutton about her brother and sister in law's marriage, "they had their ups and downs just like anybody" she said.

The defense is expected to begin presenting their case after lunch.

Kevin Knoefel is facing charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated murder in the death of his wife Lisa.

Prosecutors say he and Zunich were having an affair.

Zunich testified last week. She agreed to plead guilty and go to prison for 30 years in return for truthful testimony. Without the agreement she could have faced life.

Kevin could still get life in prison.
