CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

When we talked to veterans at Louis Stokes VA Hospital in Cleveland, they were shocked the facility was flagged by auditors in Washington, and they want answers, like the rest of the public.

"I'm concerned. All our brothers are here, brothers in arms if you will, and I'd like to get them to know they're getting as good as service as I'm getting," said Dennis Brostek, a retired U.S. Marine.

In the audit report released Monday, all 731 facilities across the country were reviewed to see how long veterans have been waiting for treatment. A total of 112 hospitals were flagged for further review, including locations in Cleveland and Cincinnati. However, the audit did not explain why they were flagged.

When we contacted officials at Louis Stokes VA, we were sent an e-mail indicating they have not been given full details about why they were flagged, but it may have something to do with how they schedule appointments.

"We are re-educating all of our 800 schedulers across our 17 locations of care to ensure the processes they use are appropriate and accurate," said Ashley Trimble with the VA.

They also point out Cleveland is the third largest VA Medical Center in the country and they schedule around 6,700 appointment a day.

"We get exceptional, good care here," said Jerome Wilson, a retired Marine, who just wants to know what the flag is about.

"I couldn't believe it. I really, especially here at the Cleveland VA, I go to the spinal cord unit and they're second to none," said Brostek.
