CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
The NBA draft is merely 16 days away and with the lucky no. 1 pick Cleveland managed to score again in this year's lottery; the city has to overcome yet another terrifyingly, gut-wrenching draft. The prospect in question for the Cavaliers is Kansas center, Joel Embiid. The 7'0", 250 lb power house is the best choice at the top of the draft boards for Cleveland. Embiid would best compliment Irving on the court and would be a massive solution to a long-term need. The problem is that Joel Embiid may have a hard time staying healthy once he gets to the league. His medical charts show several back issues that could be career ending if they should persist. We find ourselves asking, "is it worth the risk?" If the young athlete is able to stay healthy, he will surely become one of the most dominant centers the NBA has ever seen.
Embiid is rumored to have a workout scheduled with the Cavs on Thursday where he will be thoroughly examined athletically and medically. If he comes back with a clean bill of health, the Cavaliers will surely take him with the 1st overall pick.
Other top prospects: Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker and Dante Exxum would all be exceptional picks for the Cavaliers if they decide to pass up on Embiid and a risky health chart.
