CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Ohio Supreme Court taking on red light cameras Wednesday.

Drivers all over the state have been fighting the tickets they've received from these 'traffic cop substitutes.'

The case in question is out of Toledo but the court's ruling will affect drivers across Ohio, and the communities which issue the tickets through these red light cameras.

Toledo is appealing a ruling in the Sixth District Ohio Court of Appeals that said the method the city used for processing the tickets deprived motorists of due process and equal protection under the Ohio and US Constitution.

The existence of the cameras aren't at issue.

The question they're discussing right now is does the appeals process for red light camera violations strip the municipal courts of jurisdiction?

So far during the proceedings -- the judges and the lawyers for the city of Toledo do agree on one thing  -- that the decision will have wide reaching affects for drivers, municipalities and the courts.
