MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OH (WOIO) -

The Mayfield Village Police Department is investigating three incidents of rape of an 11-year old girl.

The suspect, William Elliott, 77, of Miamisburg, Ohio, was visiting the home of the victim when the crimes are alleged to have occurred.

Police were notified of the incidents by Cuyahoga County Child and Family Services, after the victim recently told a friend who then told an adult.

"Child Family Services called us. We brought the mother and victim in to interview. We got all the details and the subject eventually found out about that and turned himself into the Miamisburg police department," said Sgt. Kevin Miller, detective with Mayfield Village Police.

Police told us it happened three times starting in 2012 when the victims was just nine.

"He was a relative of the victim. He was staying at the house," said Sgt. Miller.

Elliott is a registered sex offender, police arrested him back in 2006 for having pictures of underage girls on his computer at work.

He surrendered himself to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office upon learning of the new charges against him.

Mayfield Village Police were then notified and he was transported back to Cuyahoga County where he was booked.

"Our number one concern is the safety and care of the victim," Sgt. Miller told us.

Elliott has been bound over by the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury and is currently in county jail awaiting trial.

This incident remains under investigation.
