State troopers bust pair for drug trafficking

LORAIN COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

 

On June 9, 2014, Ohio State Highway Troopers stopped a 2013 Hyundai Accent, with Michigan registration, for a speed violation on the Ohio Turnpike eastbound, near milepost 139 in Lorain County at 4:38 p.m., on June 9.

During during the traffic stop, troopers detected an odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed a soft sided cooler containing nearly a pound of marijuana.

The driver, Lamar Chase, 38, of Wickliffe, Ohio and passenger, Karyne M. Toutant, 38, of Cleveland, Ohio were taken into custody and held in the Lorain County Jail, charged with trafficking in marijuana, a fourth-degree felony and possession of marijuana, a fifth-degree felony.
