CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Father's Day Pledge is a national movement by the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials to address violence among young African American males.

Ward 2 Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed will stand on the steps of Cleveland City Hall with fathers and father figures to take a pledge to end violence in Cleveland.

The Father's Day Pledge will occur on city hall steps all across America on June 14 to address the increasing incidents of violence among young African American males.

The National League of Cities (NLC) and the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials are speaking out on this disturbing trend and hope this pledge and a corresponding resolution will encourage the Centers for Disease Control, city leaders and African American males to take an active role in reducing crime and homicides in urban centers.
