FAYETTEVILLE, TN (WAFF) -

A Fayetteville Tennessee man convicted of killing his wife faces two decades in prison.

A judge sentenced Charles McKinney to 24 years for murder and two years for child abuse. The sentences will run concurrently.

Police said McKinney shot his wife, Courtney, inside their apartment in 2012. Investigators said the couple had only lived at the Taylor Way Apartments a few days before the shooting.

A neighbor said he heard shots fired and walked outside to see what was going on. He said he saw Charles, who gave him the couple's child and showed a gun.
