CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Tigers' manager, Brad Ausmus, may have gone a little too far in his latest post-game press conference when he stated that he beats his wife when his team isn't doing well. Just as abruptly as it came out of his mouth, he quickly retracted his joke and apologized.

Obviously joking, Ausmus said: "I beat my wife." After a brief pause, said: "I'm just kidding around. No, luckily my wife and kids are fantastic. I do get a little mopey at home, but my wife and kids are good." Even after sharing a giggle or two about the comment, Ausmus apologized again about a minute later saying, "I didn't want to make light of battered women. I didn't mean to make light of that, so I apologize for that if that offended anyone."

Quick save, Ausmus, quick save.
