BURGAW, NC (WECT) -

It's that time of year…the 11th Annual North Carolina Blueberry Festival will fill the streets of downtown Burgaw this weekend. In a town of about 4,000, this festival brings in about 30,000 visitors each year.

The festival celebrates the significance of blueberries in the southeastern region, as Pender County ranks second in blueberry production for the entire state.

The festival includes a 5K, music, car shows, food, and of course – blueberries.

Event organizers ask that you leave your pets at home. Crowded hot festivals are no fun for dogs, so there is a strict no pet policy.

According to the festival's website, parking will be available at Pender Landing Shopping Center, located at the intersection of US Highway 117 and Highway 53, as well as at the Pender County Government Complex, located along US highway 53 Business/ South Walker Street. Trolleys will run every 10 to 15 minutes to transport festival-goers.

Downtown parking will also be available along Dickerson Street along the railroad right a ways both north and south of the Historic Burgaw Train Depot.

The Blueberry festival wraps up around 9 p.m. Saturday.
