PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The local chapter of the Boy Scouts of America is holding its "Over the Edge" fundraiser Friday in downtown Portland.

For a $1,500 tax-deductible donation, anyone who is over the age of 18 can rappel 24 stories down the Broadway building.

Over the past two years, the event has raised nearly $150,000 for the Boy Scouts, money that Scout leader Michael Egan says helps the local community.

"It all stays right here in our area, funding scouting impact programs, and and we have a new program for our children living in at-risk homes, so that's one of the big sources it goes to," Egan said.

"Over the Edge" takes place Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Broadway building in downtown Portland. Participation is limited to the first 76 people who sign up.
