SEVEN HILLS, OH (WOIO) -

You'd like to think that a city park is a safe, healthy place for kids to play.  But there are serious questions about Calvin Park in Seven Hills after what we found in this dumpster.

We found a rotting deer carcass, one found along the road. From what we saw, it's been there for awhile.

There were flies and maggots everywhere, and a stench that stretched for close to 100 yards.

Deer in populated areas are a growing problem and what to do about them a growing concern.

Seven hills has a major problem, but how they are disposing of the deer is making the problem worse. While we were there a city foreman arrived and confirmed what we already knew.

The dumpster with the carcass is just yards from ball fields where kids play and immediately adjacent to places people park.

A viewer sent us a photo from a week ago, showing three deer in the same dumpster.

Seven Hills service director Steward Lovece says the dumpster company said it had no problem accepting the carcases. In the future he said they'd use more lime for the smell and pick a better location away from kids.

Various state web sites address deer carcass disposal and all note that irresponsible dumping of deer carcasses can spread disease.
