The Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single motorcycle crash that occurred Saturday around 5 p.m. in Erie County on Smokey Road near state Route 61.

Chad Scott Rhoades, 42, of Cuyahoga Falls, was traveling westbound on Smokey Road when he drove off the right side, striking a utility pole. He was ejected from his Harley Davidson.

Rhoades was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center by Life Flight with life-threatening injuries. The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Rhoades was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash is still under investigation, but OSHP says no citations have been issued.
