Cleveland councilman's son charged with assault, out on bond

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A Cleveland councilman's son is out on bond after being arraigned on a felonious assault charge.

Kevin Conwell, Jr. pled not guilty Monday and a judge set his bond at $7500.

The 29-year-old was arrested early Saturday at Vada Restaurant and Lounge on St. Clair Avenue.

Police say he hit a man in the head with a hammer.  The victim was driven to MetroHealth Medical Center.

No charges have been filed.

Conwell Jr. Is the son of Cleveland councilman Kevin Conwell and Cuyahoga County Councilwoman Yvonne Conwell.
