CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Dinosaurs still roam the earth, and they returned to Cleveland on Wednesday.

The "Walking With Dinosaurs Arena Spectacular," based on the award-winning BBC Television Series, is at Quicken Loans Arena from July 9-13.

Designers and scientists teamed up to create 20 life-size dinosaurs. Puppeteers crawl inside some of the costumes to make them move, while others are remote-controlled.

More than 8 million people in 217 cities have seen the dinosaurs. Cleveland kicks off a North American tour that will hit 40 cities.

The show depicts the evolution of dinosaurs over the span of their 200 million years in existence. A total of 10 species are represented, including the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Plateosaurus, Stegosaurus, and Allosaurus.

The scripting, production and technology of "Walking With Dinosaurs" borrows heavily from film techniques. Many of those who worked on the show have worked in film and on Broadway.
