Job-Applications.com President Doug Crawford today announced three winners of the company's $1,000 Working Parent Scholarship -- three times the number of scholarships the company anticipated awarding. The scholarships offered by the Canton, Ohio-based company are designed to help working parents cover the costs of higher education.

The three students who won Job-Applications.com Working Parent Scholarships are: Mark Hobbs of Logan, Utah; Ryan Judd of Yucaipa, California; and Tracie Welliver of Richland, Washington. "We had an outstanding group of essays to select from," Crawford said. "Instead of picking just one essay, we selected the top three."

"Working parents throughout the United States are having a difficult time covering their bills, particularly as they return to school to get a degree that will help them land good-paying jobs," Crawford said. "The Job-Applications.com Working Parent Scholarship is our way to provide encouragement and support."

Scholarship applicants submitted a 600 word to 1,000 word essay on how to successfully balance parenthood, working and excelling in school.

Job-Applications.com, which is one of the leading job application resources available in the United States, created the Working Parent Scholarship as a way to help families obtain a better education to help build a career. The first of these $1,000 scholarships was awarded to Sandra Moore, 26, of Gilbert, Arizona. Moore served as a judge to help decide this round of scholarship winners.  She said helping judge the essays was "a great experience."

"I am able to relate to these students and the unique challenges they face," Moore said. "I hope that this scholarship helps them to reach their goals as it has helped me."

Since Job-Applications.com first started awarding the national Working Parent Scholarship, more than 500 people from throughout the U.S. have applied.

The next Job-Applications.com scholarship will be awarded to an Ohioan. The deadline for the Ohio Scholarship is Aug. 14.
