LAKEWOOD, OH (WOIO) -

The Lakewood High School band director has resigned from his position, amid a sex scandal.

On June 10, a ranger in the Rocky River Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks saw two people in the back of a car around 10:45 p.m.

"Two subjects were inside that vehicle. A 27-year-old male and a 16-year-old male engaged in sexual conduct. Officers decided to investigate further," said Capt. Jack Hall.

Rangers then arrested Harris.

Per standard protocol, Harris was placed on administrative leave and banned from the property during the investigation.

During a special school board meeting on Wednesday, the board approved his letter of resignation, despite Harris' absence.

According to a court docket, Harris is charged with two counts of sexual battery. His arraignment is set for July 18.

The school has already started searching for a replacement. Numerous candidates have already been interviewed.
