Dreary start to Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

On & off rain under mostly cloudy skies today, with isolated thunderstorms mixed in. Highs reach the low to mid-80s area-wide. Rain and a few storms continue overnight with lows in the 60s to near 70. More showers/storms expected on Wednesday, with mostly cloudy skies and warmer temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. Thursday should bring a few Upstate showers, with more widespread rain in the mountains, and highs in the mid to upper 80s. By Friday much drier weather is on the way with mostly sunny skies across our area, with highs in the mid to upper 80s.

GSP needs .02" of rain to get to average for yearly rainfall so far, and AVL needs .48".  Both could happen before the end of the week, and even end up with a surplus of rain.

Also of note: Tropical Depression #2 is moving westward from the Atlantic toward the Lesser Antilles islands. It's not at this point expected to turn into a named storm, but could bring wind/rain to parts of the Caribbean over the weekend.
