PARMA, OH (WOIO) -

Cuyahoga Community College will host its annual Bicycle Safety Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 9, to promote and encourage safe riding habits.

The free event will be held at the western campus in parking Lot D located at 11000 Pleasant Valley Road in Parma.

Bicycle helmets will be handed out to children ages 5 to 12, while supplies last.

Numerous studies show that helmets reduce the risk of head and brain injuries in the event of a crash.

Children who attend Bicycle Safety Day also will have the chance to pedal bikes while testing their steering, braking and general maneuverability skills on an obstacle course.

The family-friendly event also will include lunch in addition to various entertainment and activities, including music, pony rides, face painting, clowns and a magician.

Children and adults will also have the opportunity to check out a LifeFlight helicopter and local police and fire vehicles.

For more information call campus police at 216-987-5326 or visit www.tri-c.edu/BicycleSafety.
